‘Unmasking’ - Animated Short

‘Unmasking’ is a project to create awareness of girls and women who are on the Autism spectrum as well as raise attention to the common, associated trait known as masking; artificially performing social behavior that is deemed to be more socially acceptable or hiding behavior that might be viewed as socially unacceptable. This animation short hopes to encourage the act of ‘unmasking’; creating a channel for this community to feel represented and recognised. With only 1 female in every 3 men on the spectrum receiving a diagnosis for Autism, this animation hopes to allow the Autistic community and a larger broader audience as a whole to feel inspired to have the confidence to begin the long but positive road of consciously un masking, in hopes of allowing females on the spectrum to not go unseen and shining a more positive light on aiding self improvement.
